Duties & Responsibilities
As a Payroll Associate, you will be responsible for end-to-end payroll processing and ensuring full compliance with statutory requirements such as PF, ESIC, PT, and Income Tax. You will manage complex payroll cases, support audits, and provide guidance to junior team members. This role is ideal for experienced payroll professionals seeking to deepen their expertise and take ownership of payroll operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Independently manage monthly payroll processing with accuracy and within defined timelines.
- Ensure statutory compliance including accurate calculation and timely remittance of PF, ESIC, PT, and TDS along with the filing of all monthly, quarterly, and annual statutory returns.
- Maintain and audit employee payroll records including changes related to salary, deductions, reimbursements, incentives, etc.
- Address and resolve escalated queries related to payroll, taxation, and statutory compliance.
- Assist with internal and external audits, providing all necessary payroll documentation.
- Manage leave & attendance of client employees.
- Maintain HRMs on a day-to-day basis.
- Manage multiple clients’ payroll processing.
- Train and mentor junior payroll associates and support their development
Requirements
Desired characteristics (Attributes & Skills)
- 3 to 4 years of experience in end-to-end payroll processing.
- Strong knowledge of PF, ESIC, PT, and Income Tax.
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Excel including basic functions like Sum, Average, VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, etc.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- High attention to detail and ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive data.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
- Experience with Ascent payroll software is an added advantage.
- Knowledge of Gratuity, Bonus, and Leave Encashment calculations.
- Experience handling payroll for multiple clients or locations is a plus point.
Qualification required for the role
- Graduate degree, preferably in Commerce or a related field.
