Contract of Employment

  • Each worker is issued with a comprehensive contract of employment in dual language.

  • An overview of the Norwegian statutory requirements such as sick pay, holiday entitlement and maternity/paternity pay will be made available to you prior to contract offer.

  • TopSource Worldwide will advise where these provisions can easily be enhanced i.e. contractual or occupational sick pay, enabling you to provide a fully competitive salary and benefits package for all your employees.
    • Employees covered by National Insurance in Norway are entitled to various benefits, including: old age, survivors’ and disability pensions; occupational injury benefits; a work assessment allowance; cash benefits for sickness, maternity, adoption and unemployment; medical benefits; benefits for single parents; and funeral benefits.
  • Salary, Commissions/Bonuses & Benefits are agreed with the ‘workside’ employer and contractually included.

  • Non-confidentiality and post termination restrictions clauses can be factored into the employment agreement if required, providing greater protection for your business.
    • Post-employment, non-competition covenants are permissible under Norwegian law if they are reasonable based on factors such as the employer’s need for protection, the extent of the restrictions placed on the employee and the employee’s position and knowledge of the company’s customers and business secrets.
    • There are no provisions mandating that the employee be compensated during the restriction period.


  • Fully managed service to assist with routine HR tasks such as absence management, expense processing and probationary management.
  • Ad-hoc support available around the clock to support you when you need it most in the event of any disciplinary, grievance or other HR matters requiring urgent attention.
  • Regular updates and advice provided in order to ensure compliance with Norwegian law, i.e. requirement to keep records of the hours worked by each employee. Such records are to be maintained and must be available for inspection by the Labour Inspection Authority and the employees’ elected representatives.
  • TopSource Worldwide will bring any issues to your early attention and, where appropriate, work with you to ensure internal policies and handbooks are updated accordingly.


  • Fully compliant payroll funding process ensuring that employees and competent authorities are paid on time by electronic means.
  • Staff payments made to employees on a monthly basis as required in local currency.
  • Electronic Payslips provided to employees.
  • Statutory e-filing (“A-Melding”) undertaken monthly via Altinn to declare employment and income information to the Norwegian Tax Administration and SSB (Statistics Norway)
  • Tax payments made in line with local territory requirements to Skaateetaten (Tax Office).
  • End of year reporting completed as standard.
