While the use of Global Employer or Record services has become more prevalent, the range of people contacting Topsource Worldwide has also broadened. Historically, enquiries were from a troubled HR professional whose hiring manager has uttered the dreaded line “we have just made a hire in …..”, then gone on to detail a country in which the business had no presence whatsoever. Today, we are as likely to be contacted by the person wanting to be employed as we are by the company wanting to employ.

Situations might be that a new, prospective employee has been identified but wants to remain in a territory where the employing company doesn’t operate directly. Or an existing employee has asked if they might relocate overseas. Rightly, the business wants to be supportive and knows that we live in a world where engaging with remote working, broadens the net to attract and employ the best talent.  However, in either of these scenarios, the seemingly sensible approach of “yes, you go and look into it and come back to me with your recommendations”, can be a fatal first step.

But why? A competent professional is being asked to research EOR service providers and put forward the best ones, which should be perfectly reasonable. The issue though, is one of completely different priorities and perspective. And this is exacerbated in a situation where the employee is being asked to meet some or all of the cost of the EoR service.

At Topsource Worldwide, we include HR advice as a standard part of our service. We provide our clients with a dedicated Client Relationship Manager to guide them on their international expansion journey. And we make it easy for our client’s finance team by providing consolidated invoicing, in a currency of their choosing, with all the FX and wiring taken care of by us. These are all great reasons for why our clients choose us but none are a concern to the employee. The employee wants to be paid accurately and on time; that’s a given. But they aren’t the ones who need to draw on the experience of our Client Relationship Managers. They have no concern that their finance team might have ten more employees in various countries and would really benefit from the simplicity of Topsource Worldwide’s invoicing. And they certainly aren’t going to be the one that causes an issue that requires HR to resolve!

The best EoR services understand that looking after client employees is key. They are at the centre of all that we do. But they are not the right people to do vendor selection. The value that can be added to a business by the right EoR is enormous and we will always help that HR professional to make sure that their hiring manager can quickly and compliantly bring on their new employee.
