Frequently asked questions
Yes. We manage EOBI (Employees’ Old-Age Benefits Institution) contributions and applicable provincial social security institution contributions, along with progressive income tax withholding. We also manage gratuity or provident fund entitlements, whichever applies under the Industrial and Commercial Employment (Standing Orders) Ordinance, which governs much of Pakistan’s private sector employment.
Private health insurance, transport allowances, and provident fund contributions above the statutory minimum are common differentiators in Pakistan’s growing IT and BPO sectors, where competition for skilled software and support talent has intensified significantly in recent years.
Notice periods are generally one month or as specified in the employment contract, and gratuity or provident fund benefits (whichever the employment terms provide) become payable at termination. Pakistan’s provincial labor laws can vary in some respects, so applicable rules should be checked against the employee’s specific province of employment.
An EOR can typically onboard within one to two weeks for EOBI and provincial social security registration, compared with the several weeks to a couple of months needed to establish a Pakistani entity and register with the Federal Board of Revenue and relevant provincial authorities.
Pakistan’s provincial variation in labor law and its gratuity/provident fund election requirements need ongoing local coordination to manage well. An EOR handles that compliance and carries the liability, which is typically the practical route for accessing Pakistan’s large, English-proficient IT talent pool.
