Frequently asked questions
Yes. We manage TSS (Sistema Dominicano de Seguridad Social) contributions, with employer costs running above 17% of gross salary once pension, health, and labor risk contributions are combined, along with income tax withholding. We also calculate the mandatory Christmas salary (regalía pascual, one month’s salary), due to every employee by December 20.
Private health insurance (ARS) that supplements the public system, life insurance, and meal or transport subsidies are common differentiators, particularly in the Dominican Republic’s growing BPO and shared-services sector, which serves both US and broader LatAm markets.
Notice (preaviso) scales with tenure under Dominican labor law, and severance (auxilio de cesantía) is due for unjustified dismissal, also calculated by length of service. Dominican labor courts require documented, valid cause for termination, and getting this right materially changes what notice and severance are owed.
An EOR can typically onboard within one to two weeks for TSS registration, compared with the several weeks needed to incorporate a Dominican entity and register with the Ministry of Labour and TSS.
The Dominican Republic’s tenure-based preaviso and cesantía calculations require ongoing local administration that’s easy to get wrong. An EOR handles that compliance and carries the liability, which is typically the practical route for accessing the country’s growing nearshore BPO talent pool.
